A Strategic Plan for a SWEET Future
On 19 November 2010, SWEET e.V. was established as a legal entity, promoting the expansion of Centres of Reference for paediatric and adolescent diabetes care so that all European healthcare professionals and patients have access to up-to-date information and innovative diabetes care.
A Strategic Plan has been put forward, outlining the main focus areas of SWEET e.V. in the near future. Four main areas (pillars) with their according objectives have been defined. Key elements to achieve them have been added to ensure a steady and adequate follow-up of the Plan.
The Chairman of SWEET e.V. is Prof. Thomas Danne, MD.
Prof. Danne is Director of the Department of General Pediatrics and Endocrinology/Diabetology at the Kinderkrankenhaus auf der Bult in Hannover, Germany.
The first SWEET pillar on Governance consists of the Executive Committee. The following officers have been chosen by election:

The second SWEET pillar on Centre Network consists of the SWEET e.V. Coordination Centre and the SWEET NHS Peer Review Programme.
The third SWEET pillar on Data collection and Technology is formed by the following members:

To the fourth SWEET pillar on Research and Benchmarking every SWEET member can contribute by submitting proposals for data analysis of the SWEET data base and
